A Brand (re)Introduction to Genesis
A Brand (re)Introduction to Genesis

Genesis Bikes is a quintessentially British brand that’s become a bit of a darling among cycling enthusiasts, particularly those who enjoy a good adventure on two wheels. Established in 2006, Genesis, The Original Adventure Bicycle Brand, has been a staple in the adventure scene, which is why we felt it was right to bring it back to the Brixton Cycles stable.

The brand has carved out a niche that appeals to those who value substance over style (though the bikes do look rather dashing in a modest, British way) and we thought they would be a fantastic alternative to the brands we currently offer.

Built for All Sorts of Shenanigans: Genesis bikes are famously versatile. Whether you’re navigating the concrete jungle or venturing into the wilds, there’s a Genesis bike that’ll get you there in style. These bikes are like a Swiss Army knife on two wheels—ready for anything.

Steel’s the Deal: One of Genesis’s calling cards is its love affair with steel frames. While other brands may chase the latest materials, Genesis knows that steel is tough as nails and offers a ride that’s as smooth as butter. Of course, they also dabble in aluminium and carbon fibre, so there’s something for everyone.

Adventure Awaits: If there’s one thing Genesis bikes are known for, it’s adventure. Their Croix de Fer and Tour de Fer models are legends in the bikepacking and touring world, built to carry all your gear and then some. These bikes are basically your best mates on long journeys, always reliable and up for a challenge.

Here's a quick look at their line-up:

The Adventure & Gravel Range

Croix de Fer: The crown jewel of Genesis’s lineup, the Croix de Fer is a versatile steel adventure bike that’s equally at home on tarmac, gravel, or loaded up for a multi-day tour. It’s available in several builds, from entry-level to high-end options, including frameset-only versions for those who want to build their own dream machine.

Vagabond: Known as a “monstercross” bike, the Vagabond is a bit of a rebel, combining mountain bike DNA with road bike speed. It’s designed for off-road adventures and rough-and-ready touring, with big tyres and a burly steel frame.

CDA: This is Genesis’s carbon gravel bike, designed for those who want speed and performance on mixed terrain. The CDA is lighter and faster than its steel counterparts, making it ideal for gravel racing or fast-paced adventures.

Fugio: A modern gravel bike with a steel frame and wide tyres, the Fugio is built for comfort and versatility on rough roads and trails. It’s perfect for those who like to mix things up and explore off the beaten path.

Get Touring

Tour de Fer: As the name suggests, this is a touring bike through and through. Designed for long-haul adventures, the Tour de Fer comes with everything you need for epic journeys, including front and rear racks, multiple bottle cage mounts, and a sturdy steel frame that can handle heavy loads.

Urban and Commute

Flyer: A perfect do it all, the Flyer has disk breaks and wide clearance for the ultimate rubbish weather days or sharp stopping city bike. The single speed setup minimises maintenance and keeps things simple.

On the Road Side

Equilibrium: A road bike with a bit of a twist, the Equilibrium is designed for comfort and stability over long distances. It has a classic steel frame that soaks up the miles, making it a great choice for endurance rides and sportives.

We're super pleased to be able to bring back Genesis on our shelves and as the brand combines practicality with a touch of classic British simplicity. We've ridden them for years and we love them and we hope so will you.
